The flexibility you require
From the "sleeping” sensor to monitoring in real-time
The OSMOS safety system can enlist different kinds of safety concepts so that it can be tailored to suit different safety and financial requirements. The system can be put in place at several levels, depending upon the level of risk and budget involved:

Graduated monitoring scheme, based on risk, need and budget

Prepared mode
One way of taking precautions for structures newly built is to install an X-Trigger without any further cabling: the X-Trigger is a sensor which provides a yes/no decision. If a previously defined threshold value is exceeded, it alters its optical characteristics. Under the pre-cabling option, a fiberoptic connecting cable between the sensor and the Opto-Box is included in the planning; this is then pre-cabled during construction. The new structure is thus prepared, at all times, for continuous surveillance.
Sleeping mode
The so-called "sleeping mode" is designed primarily for prevention where risk levels are low – especially in newly built structures. This option involves the installation of sensors free of a direct and constant connection to an Opto-Box. Subsequent to a reference measurement, the sensor remains in place to provide "sleeping" evidence of changes in length in the structure in question. An on-site measurement can be made at any time, following connection to the Opto-Box.
Permanent mode
This enables continuous measurement through connection to an Opto-Box, with and without remote querying. The aim is to ensure continuous surveillance through real-time monitoring. Here, data are recorded and analyzed in real-time. The system is continuously in operation, thereby enabling constant control monitoring.
